On September 1, 2026, the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) hosted a productive academic session featuring Eveligh Prado Carpio, Ph.D., professor and researcher from the Technical University of Machala (UTMACH), within the framework of the international DEPUREMOS project, funded by Belgian cooperation agency VLIR-UOS.

The technical agenda included a guided tour of the FLS Aquatic Ecology Laboratory, where researchers presented the operation and analytical capacity of the wastewater purification and monitoring systems developed and implemented at the faculty for effluent management.

Following the tour, a strategic panel discussion was led by FLS Associate Dean Ana Tirapé, Ph.D., alongside research professors Félix Morales, Ph.D., Marynes Montiel, Ph.D., and M.Sc. Rafaella Dueñas. The dialogue also benefited from the distinguished insights of Mariano Montaño Armijos, Ph.D., retired ESPOL professor and specialist in Agrochemicals and Environment, and Agr. Eng. Jaime de la Cuadra, president of the Agricultural Technology Foundation (Fundación Tecnológica para el Agro).
