As part of its community outreach and scientific career guidance initiatives, the Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS-ESPOL) hosted a delegation of students from Unidad Educativa LEMAS, who engaged in experiential workshops led by the faculty's specialized technical staff.

The tour began at the Nutritional Simulation Laboratory, where visitors were welcomed by laboratory technician Rossini Vera, R.D. In this interactive learning space, students explored how to build a balanced meal using the healthy plate framework, gaining insights into proper macronutrient distribution, caloric balance, and the long-term impact of healthy dietary habits on overall well-being.

The delegation then visited the Phytosanitary and Biocontrol Laboratory, guided by Andrea Calero, Eng. During the hands-on session, the high schoolers examined biological pest control methods in agriculture through live observation of beneficial insects, discovering sustainable biotechnological alternatives designed to reduce or replace synthetic agrochemicals in crop production.

Through these experiential laboratory tours, FLS-ESPOL continues to connect future high school graduates with foundational science, food security, and environmental sustainability, fostering scientific literacy and sparking vocations across biological, agricultural, and nutritional sciences.
