The optimization of water resources in high-demand agro-industrial crops represents a strategic pillar for the sustainability of Ecuador's agricultural sector. Within this framework, the oral defense was held for the postgraduate thesis titled: “Evaluation of under-canopy sprinkler irrigation emitters in oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) cultivation for efficient water management in Los Ríos province, Ecuador”, presented by Luis Bermeo.
The research was supervised by M.Sc. Randon Ortiz Calle and evaluated by an examination committee comprising Paúl Carrión Mero, Ph.D., and M.Sc. Lady Bravo Montero. The study analyzed the hydraulic performance and application uniformity of different under-canopy sprinkler emitters, providing applied technical benchmarks to refine irrigation depth, curb distribution losses, and optimize water consumption across oil palm production systems in the Los Ríos river basin.
With the approval of this thesis, FLS-ESPOL celebrates a new, highly trained master's graduate equipped to deploy agricultural engineering solutions and advanced water management across the national agribusiness sector.
