Under the motto "Diving for Science," various stakeholders from the underwater community gathered on February 5th for the "Noche de Buzos Ecuador" (Divers' Night Ecuador) event. This initiative, designed as an integration space for professionals and ocean enthusiasts, focused on the exchange of knowledge regarding the preservation of marine ecosystems.
The Faculty of Life Sciences (FCV) had a prominent participation through Dr. Karla Jaramillo, a professor and researcher at our institution, who led the discussion on ocean knowledge, conservation, and biodiscovery. Her intervention highlighted how scientific diving serves as a fundamental technical tool for understanding and protecting the biodiversity of our coasts.
Alliances for the Ocean: The event was the result of a strategic collaboration between the Guardian Divers Collective, the SOA Ecuador Foundation (Sustainable Ocean Alliance), and ESPOL. In addition to scientific topics, "Ethical Diving Practices" were addressed by experts such as Marina Flor and Janice Márquez de la Plata, emphasizing human responsibility within the underwater environment.
