The Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) is proud to announce the graduation of Ana María Gramal Andrango, Eng., who today earned her Master’s degree in Plant Health. Her research represents a significant advancement in the precision of phytosanitary diagnostics for Ecuador’s flower industry.

Under the title "Evaluation and Validation of a Standard Area Diagram (SAD) for the quantification of Downy Mildew (Peronospora sparsa Berkeley) severity in Roses (Rosa sp.)," the now Master’s graduate's project aims to standardize the measurement of damage caused by this pathogen. This tool is vital for producers to make decisions based on precise data, optimizing resource use and improving the export quality of Ecuadorian roses.

The defense featured a distinguished tribunal composed of Ph.D. Adriana Santos Ordóñez and Ph.D. Pablo Álvarez Romero, who served as evaluators. Additionally, the session was attended by Dr. Lisbeth Espinoza Lozano, coordinator of the Master’s Program in Plant Health, who highlighted the academic rigor and the practical applicability of the results obtained.
