We are proud to have students who integrate academic excellence with deep social sensitivity. This is the case of Danna Aráuz, a fourth-semester Biology student whose story of altruism began a decade ago and continues to have a positive impact on the community.
At just 11 years old, following the 2016 earthquake in Ecuador, Danna decided to trade her most precious toys and stuffed animals for large bottles of water to help those affected in Manabí. What started as a local initiative in Durán turned into a solidarity movement that attracted donations of food and clothing from across the country.
Today, at 20 years old, Danna keeps her vocation for volunteering alive. Her new mission is to collect cans of formula and non-perishable food for children undergoing cancer treatments. To achieve this, she plans to auction her gala and graduation gowns, directing the funds to families arriving in Guayaquil from other provinces who lack the resources for their stay.
