With the goal of consolidating 2026 strategic planning, ESPOL hosted a key technical meeting to monitor the project: "Multi-stakeholder Innovation in Water Management for Local Development in the Bulubulu Basin – Ecuador." This initiative seeks to transform the reality of rural communities through technical and collaborative water resource management.

The meeting, coordinated by Dr. Marynes Montiel, included representatives from the Maquita Foundation, engineers Emilio Aguilar and Jeremy Bravo, alongside a multidisciplinary team of specialists from the Life Sciences Faculty (LFS), composed of Professor Fernanda Calderón and Professor Jaime Proaño. Furthermore, experts from CIPAT (Center for Research and Projects Applied to Earth Sciences) and institutional research technicians also participated.

Planning that Transforms: The session allowed for the establishment of priority lines of action for this year and the exploration of potential additional joint ventures with Maquita. The project stands out for its global and multi-stakeholder nature, being funded by the Generalitat Valenciana and Manos Unidas. It also integrates scientific participation from Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in Spain and technological contributions from various Spanish companies.

Strategic Pillars for 2026:

  • Evaluation of technical milestones achieved in the previous phase.

  • Logistical planning for the implementation of new water management technologies on the ground.

  • Strengthening academic knowledge transfer between ESPOL and UJI.

This meeting reaffirms ESPOL's mission to lead projects that integrate diverse faculties and centers (such as LFS and CIPAT) to generate a direct impact on the sustainability and quality of life of Ecuadorian communities.
